Η Ford ανακοίνωσε ότι προσλαμβάνει 400 μηχανικούς της BlackBerry με σκοπό την περαιτέρω ενίσχυση του τμήματος έρευνας και ανάπτυξης για τα connected cars (διασυνδεδμένα αυτοκίνητα). Οι μηχανικοί προέρχονται μεταξύ άλλων και από το τμήμα των smartphones της BlackBerry.
Οι μηχανικοί της BlackBerry θα συνεργαστούν με την Ford, θα παραμείνουν όμως στην δικαιοδοσία της καναδέζικης εταιρείας. Με αυτή την κίνηση η Ford διπλασιάζει τους υπαλλήλους που εργάζονται πάνω στην ανάπτυξη connected συστημάτων για τα οχήματά της.
